Driving Fear Program Review – Get Rid of Fear and Be Free Again

A few years ago, I had never heard of driving fear. Then my best friend had a major surgery on her foot and stayed with me during the long three month recovery period. She spent the entire time complaining about being stuck in the house and not being able to drive or go anywhere.

When she finally was cleared to be back on her feet and the doctor gave her the go-ahead to drive again, I thought she would be ramming the roads for weeks. She left that first day and I figured I wouldn't see her for a while.

She came home within two hours. She was very quiet, pale and seemed shaky. After a bit, I asked her if she was all right and she began to cry. As I comforted her, she explained what had happened. She had been totally excited to be able to go out and started off eagerly. After twenty minutes or so of driving, she said she started having a hard time breathing and her heart began racing.

A huge feeling of panic overcame her to the point where she needed to pull off the road to recover. She said it took over an hour before she could make herself start the car again and drive home because she was so afraid that it would happen again.

That experience was only the beginning of her problem. Every time she got behind the wheel for the next month, she would get scared and almost every time would have another panic attack while driving. The final straw was when she felt she was having a heart attack and she almost was in a serious accident. My friend refused to drive at all after that.

After seeing my best friend, normally so confident and fearless, reduced to tears and terror even thinking about getting in a car was horrible. She went to a psychologist who prescribed anti-anxiety medication but it didn't help.

The side effects she experienced made it just as bad for her to take the meds as it did to think about driving so she threw away the rest of the pills. Talking to the psychologist wasn't helping either – he kept trying to get her to talk about where her fear was coming from but she had no explanation.

At that point, I began to do some research. I learned that driving fear or driving phobia is one of the most common phobias that there is. Driving phobia is one of the four most common irrational fears and there is no explanation for why it happens. It is also quite common for people to develop such a phobia after an extended period of non-driving, like with my friend's surgery and recovery time.

I came across a recommendation for a program called The Driving Fear Program by a gentleman named Rich Presta. The person giving the Driving Fear review said that this program had helped him get over his driving phobia without drugs or years of intensive therapy. At a price of less than an hour with the therapist, I figured it couldn't hurt, so I bought the program and gave it to my friend.

Less than a month later, my friend was back behind the wheel – Driving Fear was a truly miraculous program!

I later found out that The Driving Fear Program is widely used by mental health professionals in clinical settings because it is the most comprehensive and specific program available that deals directly with driving phobia. Take a look at some of the things you learn from this program (and no where else):

• Unique four step technique to stop panic in its tracks
• Why you have these irrational thoughts while driving and how to make them go away
• What you are likely doing that is making things worse
• How to determine what you are really scared of
• Patterns of thinking you need to learn to recognize and avoid like the plague
• How to actually deal with bad drivers while on the road
• Many, many more

The standard program comes with several useful components. There is the Driving Fear manual of over 100 pages packed with a step-by-step system to get you back on the road with confidence. You also get the audio version of the book so you can listen to it anywhere – great for playing when you first get back behind the wheel! There is also a series of videos, a two-hour audio to help relieve anxiety called S.A.F.E (Subliminal Auditory Fear Elimination), and a Fast Lane Audio Session with specific examples you may encounter on the road.
